Overview of Arts Awards
The Council currently gives out the following awards in the various areas:
Artistic Excellence
Cultural Medallion
Young Artist Award
Arts Partnership
Patron of the Arts Award
Patron of the Arts Award Implementing arts practices and programmes in the education curriculum
National Arts Education Award

We can all see that the Singapore Government has made an noticeable effort to recognise artistic excellence and contributions to the promotion and development of the arts in Singapore. Singapore arts might not be popular around the globe now but through the government's effort, i believe it wun be long before singapore arts will become popular like those of the Italian's or French's.
Below are some examples of awards the government came up with to encourage those with talenbt to future excel....
Cultural Medallion
The Cultural Medallion was instituted in March 1979 as an initiative of our late President, Mr Ong Teng Cheong. The award recognises individuals who have attained artistic excellence in their respective artistic fields. It is conferred by the President, Republic of Singapore and is administered by NAC.
Young Artist Award
The Young Artist Award was introduced in 1992 to encourage the development of young artistic talents in Singapore. The award is accorded to young artists who have shown promise of artistic excellence in their repective artistic fields.
Patron of the Arts Award
Each year, in appreciation of the contributions made by sponsors towards the promotion and organisation of artistic activities, NAC recommends organisations and individuals for conferment of the Patron of the Arts Award, by the Minister for Information, Communication and The Arts. The Arts Supporter Award was launched in 2000 to give recognition to companies and individuals who contributed to a lesser, but no less significant, extent to the Singapore arts scene. With this award, the NAC hopes to encourage new people and companies at the community level to come forward and support the arts. This will help forge closer links between the arts and the community and expand the pool of sponsors for the arts.
National Arts Education Awards
The NAE Award is a national arts award for schools in Singapore. The National Arts Council (NAC) presents this Award annually to
· recognise schools that provide opportunities for all students to be involved and show excellence in the arts;
· encourage and reward schools with good arts practices and programmes.
Such schools adopt a coherent and integrated approach that seeks to achieve the goals of their arts programmes. They are committed to the processes which sustain achievements in the arts.

The NAE Award Criteria is based on the Arts Education Evaluation Framework, developed by the Curriculum Planning and Development Division, Ministry of Education (MOE).

The award categories are as follows:
· Gold Award - $10,000, trophy and certificate
· Silver Award - $3,000, trophy and certificate
· Bronze Award - $1,000, trophy and certificate

well. i feel like blogging today.
i had a tiring day..went out the whole day.
firstly to our sch's open hse and then went to a softball carnival..
we played against adult. and disappointedly,we lost both the matches we played.
we could have won.
and on the way back home,i board a bus without knowing tt i didnt bring my ezlink.
i just scan with my wallet,and thought that the card is inside.therefore..i got a freeride.
but i had to take any bus to get home,but i dun have coins. Miss zarinah offered me some coins..thanks again.
eh..something interesting happened after i sat down on the sit to wait for bus...
a middle-aged women came to me with some coins and she, unexpectedly,said she wants me to have it.of course i shook my head n says 'no,thanks'
i was rather surprised that such species still exist in tis world.
we should hold her in high esteem as a singaporean..

well, todae i wokeup at about ten.i should be happy,being able to sleep till so late.
however i found myself missing the school days.its just a week holiday though.
although i wokeup at ten,i lounged in bed till eleven...damn lazy.
afta..i tried to go study..but gt slight headache..so chose to stone n dream.
den i started drawing.......at last i found myself feeling better...but lazy to touch any books.
so i when to the livingroom,for tv of course.
there isn't any nice programme.but still,i prefer to jus sit there n stare at the bright screen.

Well..two days ago was my birthdae. This is the best birthdae i have ever had
in my (14+1)years of life.My friends bought me a birthdae cake tt day.think i shud mention their BIG names..they r zd, eddie, titus and yongping.THey paid for the cake..while sonhuii bought me a present(a shoebag,which i need) During the 1st recess, we went to the indoor stadium to celebrate,quite a number of ppl. they are the ASSST gang plus camilla..haozheng..kenan..etc..
they sang birthdae song...i m touched.
afta tt i cut the cake...into few uneven pieces...
and the cake's nice..den...i heard the irritating bell..
i got pillared twice tt day(quite painful''/)
tts all...its a happy day.i felt so happy for the 1st time this year.

ohh...Bonding camp had ended...miss my camp leader sia...the 175cm tall..who seldom smile and like to act cool....ohh..it was surprise tt my leader is a SHe...although she seldom smile.we had managed to make her smile during the camp..could still rmb the 1st time i c her,i cant tell she is a she..she was wearing a cap den..she gimme a strict kinda of feeling.
However,she was veri friendly and easy-going..we had lots of fun wif her guiding us..kinda miss her now..i miss the amazing race too..and most of all..when we wash the toilet...
think tts the best place and time 3a get to bond..it was oso e 1st time i wash toilet...didnt noe tt it was so fun..Edi was the luckiest..he get to clear the toilet bowl..sonhui and ysabel get to bond the most...they are the most diligent toilet cleaner i ever seen...washin two gents 2gether...so pei..

ToPiC:Most relationship invovle love or hate.Sometimes both.Today's entry:Write smthg abt how u relate to ur new class 3a.Love it or hate it?Or a little of both?

ok...frankly speaking...i still prefer my sec 2c class to 3a. I could still recall that i can move around the class freely,means that i could chat with anyone,or go irritate them once i like to. However whenever i step into 3a,I feel restricted. I just cant get myself to act 'normaly', i will just stroll to my seat and sit down quietly every morning i enter the class. I cannot blame anyone for this as we had only know one another 4 bout two months. We are still strangers.
Thus, i had no feeling towards my new class....3a...
after being in this class for about two months...i neither love this classnor hate it. There are fun-loving people in this class and they will entertain u in boring lessons. They had been doing quite well for a month.
I have not many problem in adapting in this new environment with the classmates as i had noe quite a number of them in the past two yrs in AHS. I hope we can bond well for the next few months being together. I really hope that i will start to luv this class, and hopefully will have another 2c.Bleh.

Well......Gattaca...
erm i think it is quite a nice movie as it realli grip my heart and concentration.
i usualli sleep throughout movies, but tis movie had managed to keep me awake...
okie..this movie is about a guy by the name Vincent, who is unfortunately born with congenital heart condition and myopia..
however he had exordinary dream...to be able to go to space..
this dream is considered unreachable for a person like him, who has heart problem and myopia as the criteria is to be a healthy person. Thus, like many will sacrifice for their dream come true, he approach jerome. Jerome who is a fit guy except for his disabled leg. by using makeovers and dna of jerome, vincent had scientifically changed into jerome.
i think the most thrilling part is when the investigator, vincent's brother,suspected vincent as the murderer of a case.
In the end,vincent had managed to have his dreams come true although everyone noe tt he was jus a 'imitated' jerome and jerome had commited succide.
In conclusion, i think genetic has both pros and cons for us humans.
The benefits is tt babies will not be born ill with disease.
however the cons is tt we might had been in the path of God's natural creation of us humans.
